This item is made using a process called lost wax, also referred to as cire-perdue. We start with a 3D model, created in a CAD program. Once the model is cured, it’s encased in a material that looks like plaster. It is then placed in an oven (specifically for this process), like a kiln, and the resin/wax is melted away, leaving an imprint that is used to pour molten silver, copper, or gold. Cool, huh?
 
The chain is 20 inches long.
